FUSELAGE JOINING & FORWARD FUSELAGE SECTION
Today, we are moving forward on to mount the Continental O-200 Engine Mount to the firewall of the Fuselage. This is the first time to fit the Engine Mount to the Firewall. With the engine hoisted on our overhead crane, we then remove it from the temporary Engine Frame
With the engine on the engine hoist, we looked ahead in the assembly process. As in the manual, it requires us to look ahead in the assembly process to avoid installing inaccessible components that may require removing the engine to gain access. As for now, we don’t have any components on the firewall, so it is fine with us
The plan requires us to install AN6 on 4 of the mount, therefore we pre-fit the mount to the firewall on its 5 locations with AN6 – 7A bolts, and enlarge the firewall together with the mount with 9.5 mm drill bit as shown in the picture below, and one of its holes has been enlarged
We also have enlarged the holes for the top mount through the engine mount and the firewall with a drill bit size 3/16”. AN4-6A bolts are used through the Cabin Frame, Firewall and Engine Mount
All bolts are the hand tightens for now
